There's usually a "discussion" between Kailer and I daily about what shirt he's going to wear. He has about 4 or 5 that he adores and the rest of them, well in his mind I'm pretty sure they don't even exist! Not only does he love to wear certain shirts, but when he has on something that he doesn't like, he usually finds a ploy to get it off. For example, "I don't need my sweatshirt (by the way, Kailer has an aversion to sweatshirts for some reason), I'm fine, I'm hot." Note: it's like 20 degrees outside). Or he'll go to the bathroom and come out without his sweatshirt on and then not put it back on. It's always something with him. So on Saturday as he was getting dressed I made him pick between two sweatshirts to put on over his undershirt - he picked the green one and while picking out his undies (Yes, he's just as picky about those as his shirts, socks, shoes, pants, fork, cup.....not even kidding!) he saw his "Santa tie" lying in the drawer as well and insisted that he was going to wear it! "Really?" I asked to which he stubbornly replied "Yes!" Thoughts of me wondering around town with him in his tie flashed before me, but at least he was dressed with a minor battle. Thankfully somewhere between playing with his toys and getting ready to go the tie came off. He didn't say anything to me about it and I let it go, no point in pushing the issue! :)

Just Like Grandpa Fred
A few weeks ago Kailer was busy building a big tower with his Lego's when he came into me and said, "Look Mom, it's like Grandpa Fred's." At first I wasn't quite sure what he was talking about and then he started to use it like a cane! It was the cutest thing ever, and of course I couldn't find the camera at the time, so I asked him to make a "tower" like Grandpa Fred's again today. Kailer's memory never ceases to amaze me. Quite honestly we're not in Newcastle that often and I was surprised that he even remembered that Grandpa Fred uses a cane.

20 weeks!
Today we got the opportunity to see the little person that I've been incubating for the past 20 weeks! It's actually gone pretty quickly, but we'll see how long it takes for the next 20 weeks to pass. We made it a family affair and Kailer joined Dan & I for the ultrasound. He was pretty convinced that the doctor was going to cut open my tummy so he could see the baby. I explained to him that they would use a special camera and he would see the baby on the t.v. - that was enough for him, he was ready to see his sister .... he's just SURE there's a little sister coming his way!
This little person is just as active, if not more, than Kailer was and the technician had to keep "chasing it around" to get the necessary measurements. Needless to say he/she was also being shy and not allowing much of a view for the gender. We had asked the technician to not tell use the gender, but handed her an envelope and had her seal the results inside. She and the radiologist agree on what they 'think' the little ones is, but suggested we "keep receipts" just in case! :) So sometime within the next week, hopefully, we'll have our answer (we're having a gender reveal party)!
Overall the radiologist said that the baby looks good with nothing that looks, or is measuring, abnormal. We're anxious parents to find out what we're having - it's hard to have the envelope so close at hand, yet so far away!!

Because We Do Live In The West!!
Not that neither Dan nor myself are "cowboy," but we DO live in the West which is more than a good enough reason for the K-man to own a cowboy hat! Oh, who am I kidding? Every year when the fair/rodeo rolls around I always think it would be fun to get all decked out in Western clothes and play 'the part' for a few days!
One of my very, very best friends from college was in town over New Years skiing in Big Sky and I was fortunate to get to see him, though brief, while he was in the area. He is a "Wyoming Cowboy" who presented this fine hat to Kailer when he met him on Monday morning. If I don't say so myself, he looks pretty darn handsome - cutest cowboy I've ever known!

Mommy's (not so) Secret Crush!
It's no surprise to Dan that I have a not-so-secret crush on firemen! No, not just 'any' firemen, but c'mon ladies, you know the ones I'm talking about .... so the other day when I went to deliver some presents for Operation Santa to the downtown PD, I asked Dan for directions. After I came home, I said to Dan, "Geez, you could have just told me it was right by the fire station, I know RIGHT where that is!" (Wink, Wink, Giggle) ... he just gave me a silly grin back!!
So given my little crush it was my pleasure to have my little man so excited to dress up as a fireman when we were at the Museum of the Rockies with Aunt Jamie last Tuesday. I'll always have a crush on THIS fireman!
The room for kids at the museum is called the Yellowstone Room and everything in it is representative of what one might find in the park. Since Eagles are so abundant in this area, there was a station to wear and eagle mask ... which both Kailer and I decided to try out!

After a busy day of running around, playing and shopping Kailer took a Spiderman bubble bath and got comfy in his new Cars robe.
Happy New Year to our family and friends!! We welcome 2012 with open arms and look forward to what the next 12 months will bring to us!!!
