It Makes Me Sick!

ME:  "Kailer, why don't you tell Mesa goodnight."
Kailer:  "She doesn't talk."

Kailer:  "Will you come up to my toy bedroom with me?"  (Instead of just toy room) - Love it!

While driving Kailer to school on Monday I was singing him a song that we had made up about Lightening McQueen (Cars movie) when he says to me, "No, don't sing that song it makes me sick." I'm wondering if it's the song, or my singing in general??!?!?!?!?

at.-ti-tude

ATTITUDE: (Meriam-Webster.com)
a: a negative or hostile state of mind
b: a cool, cocky, defiant, or arrogant manner

My peaceful evening of sitting on the couch, relaxing while reading my new Parenting magazine was abruptly interrupted when I heard the distinct sound of a marker on 'something' in the kitchen.  I suddenly had visions of our nephews (Nitro and Glycerin) when they were Kailer's age taking a Sharpie and writing on the cabinets. I jumped up and ran to the kitchen to find Kailer with a dry-erase marker and a notecard - Phew! - at least it wasn't the Sharpie on the cabinets.  Needless to say, I sternly told him that this was not a drawer he was to be playing in, "There is nothing in this drawer that's Kailer's.  You have two other ones [drawers] with toys that are yours."  We got everything put away and as I'm walking back into the living room this little mini following me says, "Don't give me attitude, Okay?!?"
Once again, I was speechless, stunned, didn't know how to respond and did my best to laugh under my breath.  When Dan got up from his nap two hours later, I told him and he said, "Oh Lord and he's only 2!"  "I know," I agreed, and 4 hours later I'm still not sure how I should respond!  :)

Raising Kailer

Before I had Kailer I remember thinking to myself, "How will I raise a boy (and not knowing he was a boy until he was born)?"   I grew up with a sister and even though I was around  boys growing up (cousins and family friends), I had a hard time thinking about all of the 'boy' things that would come along with having one!  After all, I'd never spent any time around motorcycles or loaders!
So now that we've officially had Kailer out of diapers since last Saturday (with no accidents - Yes!!), I've had even more of an eye-opener when it's come to potty-training a boy. Two days ago I was reminded of the humor that goes along with having a toddler, period!  While going potty Kailer decided to be a typical boy and, well, 'squirt' all around the bowl of the toilet and then ("oops") a little outside of the bowl.  I simply said to Kailer, "Kailer we don't need to pee outside of the toilet."  "I'm a fire engine he replied!"  I stopped dead in my tracks and was speechless. I couldn't help it, I laughed;
and then promptly marched out to his father and said, "You need to have a chat with your son about potty etiquette!"  Oh, the joys of raising Kailer!

Kid Tested - Audiologist (mom) Approved?

For the longest time Dan used to laugh at me as I carefully inserted my earplugs before exposing my ears to any sounds that I knew would be damaging to my ears.  Apparently after years of watching me do it (okay, maybe it was the constant nagging), Dan has also become convinced that it's worth the 5 seconds to throw them in - because he uses them all the time now too.
So I guess I shouldn't have been overly surprised when I heard Kailer says, "It's loud, I need my earplugs," while he was playing with his toy saw in his fort.  Needless to say, Kailer does not have earplugs, but I  guess he found the next best thing that was readily available!

Dinosaur Park!

With a beautiful Montana day in sight, Kailer, Grandpa and I headed to the Dinosuar Park in Bozeman last Sunday. I'd heard a lot about it, but had never been -- my oh my what a popular place!!

Digging!

PUUULLLLL .... not an easy task!  I think this piece of equipment should have been in the area for the bigger kids!

Quite honestly when Kailer started across on this I said to him, "Kailer I think maybe we should find something else for you to do."  Guess he showed me!!!
