New Boots....

..... For Daddy!  But, that didn't stop Kailer from wanting to try them on.  Why not - in a 'few' years they might fit!!

Tricycle Time

Kailer has been working on learning to use the pedals on his tricycle, which for an adult seems relatively simple (I mean, just push and go, right?!), but it's easy for us to forget how much of a challenge it actually can be at times.  So yesterday I suggested to Kailer that he 'practice' on his pedal bike.  He wasn't interested until I suggested that we make it a race to see how FAST he could go (hence the counting in the video).
Ready to get started - it was such a beautiful day - I've got the tan lines to prove it!

Ready to call it a day!
Might be time to transition to a two-wheeled bike (with training wheels, of course).

Arnold's First Surgery

Kailer's bear, "Arnold", had to go into surgery today for a small laceration on the back of his neck .... Mommy to the rescue!

I think that's what we call a "Satisfied Customer"!

LOOK!

Kailer (earlier today): "Daddy you need to look at my band-aid."
Dan: "I saw it Kailer."
Kailer: "You saw it Dad, but you did not LOOK at it!"

- LOL.  As I said to Dan, this is like the difference between Hearing and Listening!!  All that I could do was laugh!!

Love Pinterest!!

I LOVE Pinterest and have gotten so many good ideas from the site (crafts, recipes, etc) ... now if I only had the time, money and talent to complete half of what I've Pinned I'd be set!  Needless to say out of all of the things I've done this is the first project that I've taken a picture of to share.  This is Kailer's shadow-box displaying the outfit he came home in, the cap that he got at the hospital, his 'name card' (though he didn't have a name when it was filled out), a hospital picture, part of one of our wrist bands and the letter "K" that I put a piece of his wallpaper on from his nursery.  This was such a fun project and even though I really don't have an ounce of artistic ability in my blood it was fairly successful and I'm looking forward to doing Baby #2's.  (Who knows - maybe her name card can actually be filled out when she's  born?? ... this is a big question since Dan and I cannot agree on a name!!)

Face Painting

I really do love this time of the year when local events start to happen. This past weekend it was a Spring Garden show at a nursery that is down the road from our house ... so, why not go, there wasn't much else to do on Saturday morning.  Kailer and I strolled around and then we found the face-painting table.  It's funny how such a small thing, like face painting, can be the highlight of a child's day and bring back so many memories for me.
All day on Saturday he kept telling me I could "kiss this cheek, but not this one," as he pointed to his dinosaur.  Needless to say it was not okay to wash off the dino, I was told it could come off in the bath, which was last night.

Lets Go Fly A Kite!

Kailer has been patiently waiting for months, literally, to go out and fly is Spiderman kite.  The opportunity finally came last Wednesday when it was a beautiful 77 degree day with just a slight breeze.

Easter Fun!

Looks like the Easter Bunny hopped in and left a little something!

One of the BEST finds of the day - an egg at the breakfast table with Jelly Beans!
Egg hunt outside - in 27 degree weather; we're die-hards!

Perfect Spring Day!

Kailer's silhouette - turned into Batman!!
And why wouldn't Mesa want to wear a bike helmet?!?
Whoa!  Hold-up ... where did my little boy go????
Siblings!
"C'mon Mesa, let's play!"
Enjoying lunch outside - YES we love this weather!!

Sunday, April 1, 2012

For the first time in (almost) 3 years Kailer has been excited to actually SEE and have his picture taken with a "Holiday Celebrity," and his chance came on Saturday when we were grocery shopping.  I happened to spot Mr. E. Bunny himself and I excitedly asked Kailer if wanted to go over and say "Hi?"  "Yes!" was Kailer's reply as Mr. Bunny waved excitedly at my big-blue-eyed boy!  He handed Kailer a Kit-Kat Bar and asked if he wanted his picture taken with him.  Kailer was okay with the idea of sitting NEXT to the bunny, but sitting on his lap was going to be off-limits.  Say "Cheese," I instructed Kailer as the camera man did a not-so-good job of capturing a smiling picture of Kailer.  Needless to say, it didn't matter, Kailer had gotten to see the Bunny and the icing on the cake was the Kit-Kat bar that had nicely melted in its wrapper by the time he had finished his lunch and got to eat it.

Happy Easter!!

This is Kailer with his make-shift backpack that he was insistent he's going to wear to school tomorrow.  (We'll see about that!)  He did mention tonight that he's pretty sure the Easter Bunny is going to bring him a back-pack on Sunday ...   Hmmm, we'll see about that ... maybe, just maybe! ;)

"Evidence"

Poor Mesa - she's just trying to be the 'family pet' and she's a victim of sibling rivalry!   Thankfully she's a pretty good sport about things and, for the most part, just lets the rug-rat do as he pleases.  Sometimes I wish she'd fight back just a little .... just as a reminder that soon he will no longer be the ONLY child!
The other day I peeked out the dining room door to see Kailer putting Mesa's toy referee in the tree.  Needless to say, he found the whole idea quite comical and continued to do it repeatedly until I stopped him for fear that our budding tree branches may be taking a beating from him pulling on them!
I was able to snap a few pictures of him and when he saw me doing it he said to me, "No, don't take my picture."  I asked him, "Why is it evidence?"  He didn't quite know what I meant, but for the rest of his playtime with the referee he kept referring to him as "Evidence!"
