Happy 3rd Birthday Kailer!!

For REAL this time, it is actually Kailer's 3rd birthday - we had a celebration over Mother's Day weekend, one with his friends here and another one at school.  Needless to say he's already convinced that he's 3 and we're going with it.  There will NOT be a 4th celebration.  In fact I mentioned to him tonight that tomorrow is his 'real' birthday and he said, "No, it's not, I'm already 3,"  I saw no point in even arguing a mute point in his mind.
So tonight as the three of us were sitting on the couch I gave my little boy a big hug and kiss and then turned to Dan and asked, "Do you remember where we were 3 years ago?"  We had just checked into the hospital to get the induction started.  It was a long 19 1/2 hours, but obviously the pay-off was well-worth the time and I'm not going to lie, the PAIN!  I think there is definitely something to said about pain-relieving drugs when one has to be induced.  Pitocin is not a very nice friend and if that happens again I will be enjoying a pain-relieving cocktail!
It's always so amazing to watch Kailer - to just sit back and see the things he does and says.  The day he was born is as clear as crystal in my mind and I wonder how 3 years and so many milestones have passed so quickly.  As we wait for him to become a big brother, I anxiously hold my breath to see how he will react.  He is such a kind little boy with a big heart and  I think his "little" will be one very lucky person to have Kailer as a big brother!
A very special thank you to everyone who has sent cards and/or gifts ("Yes," even those who sent a drum-set ....).  You have all helped to make Kailer's 3rd birthday extra special.  We love you all!

Tractor Fun!

At some point in the last three years, I blinked and suddenly Kailer has gone from being a baby to an independent child. He's even gotten to the point where he goes outside to find his friend/neighbor, Edward, so that they can play together. The first time he came to me and asked, "Mom can I got to Edward's, his mom says it's okay," I was thrown for a loop. I wasn't expecting those words to come out of his mouth - at least not yet! Needless to say he is quite fond of Edward and take every opportunity he can to see if he's out in his driveway or backyard! And while Edward and his family are super nice, there's another thing that Kailer REALLY like about Edward - his TRACTOR!  It's a battery operated tractor, with a trailer that connects to the back, and Kailer Loves!!  Let me tell you, that little tractor has some get up and go as well.
Edward being a good friend and letting Kailer ride the tractor while he rides on Kailer's little bike.

Since this video, Kailer has had the opportunity to ride the tractor more and he's doing a lot better and steering and driving at the same time.  The boys definitely have fun together!

3rd Birthday Bash!!

Last night was Kailer's 3rd Birthday party celebration. Not knowing when #2 will decide to make an appearance, we decided it might be best to celebrate Kailer's party sooner, rather than later.  For months he's been talking about his birthday and how he wanted a Spiderman (or really, anything to do with a Superhero) themed party ... so his wish was my command!  With my bulging belly and limited energy levels I pulled together a party for him and his friends.  This year we opted out of serving a meal, like we've done in the past, and decided to just do dessert (a.k.a. Sugar!!)!  The kids had a great time, Kailer got a whole smorgasbord of presents and was up and rearing to play with his new toys at 5:22 a.m. - I'm thinking he was still on a sugar rush!
His favorite toy is his talking Woody doll with his talking Buzz Lightyear probably being a close second. He's been asking for one for quite some time and his little dream came true last night.  Needless to say, that doll got a work-out today by Kailer. If you've seen the movie Toy Story and have seen how much Andy loves Woody, then you will appreciate the same love that Kailer has for him as well.
We feel so very fortunate to have such great people in our life, who helped to make Kailer's celebration a genuine success!  They're like family and we're forever grateful to know each of them and their children.
Just in case anyone needs to catch a bad guy!

The Cake
(Spiderman now resides on Kailer's bedroom window with suction cups).

One can never have too many super powers!!

Gluten free brownies (for a few of our dietary-restricted guests) and cake batter truffles!

Oh the gifts....
Daddy's little spotter!

AND....as if I haven't seen enough sweets in the past two weeks (Ugh, I think I could get sick thinking about all of it - early b-day celebration over Mother's Day, shower cake for me at the hospital, making the truffles and brownies.....), I spent a good portion of today making cake pops for Kailer's birthday celebration at school tomorrow.  I have a lot of respect for those people who bake day in and day out - by the end of today the slightest scent of sugar made me nauseous!

Spiders Like Water?

Our little spiderman, superhero had himself a good time playing in the sprinklers on a hot Saturday afternoon!  I'm pretty sure there's not a better way to spend the day .....

"Hey, check out his cool move!"

"OR better yet - look at these MUSCLES!!"
