For REAL this time, it is actually Kailer's 3rd birthday - we had a celebration over Mother's Day weekend, one with his friends here and another one at school. Needless to say he's already convinced that he's 3 and we're going with it. There will NOT be a 4th celebration. In fact I mentioned to him tonight that tomorrow is his 'real' birthday and he said, "No, it's not, I'm already 3," I saw no point in even arguing a mute point in his mind.
So tonight as the three of us were sitting on the couch I gave my little boy a big hug and kiss and then turned to Dan and asked, "Do you remember where we were 3 years ago?" We had just checked into the hospital to get the induction started. It was a long 19 1/2 hours, but obviously the pay-off was well-worth the time and I'm not going to lie, the PAIN! I think there is definitely something to said about pain-relieving drugs when one has to be induced. Pitocin is not a very nice friend and if that happens again I will be enjoying a pain-relieving cocktail!
It's always so amazing to watch Kailer - to just sit back and see the things he does and says. The day he was born is as clear as crystal in my mind and I wonder how 3 years and so many milestones have passed so quickly. As we wait for him to become a big brother, I anxiously hold my breath to see how he will react. He is such a kind little boy with a big heart and I think his "little" will be one very lucky person to have Kailer as a big brother!
A very special thank you to everyone who has sent cards and/or gifts ("Yes," even those who sent a drum-set ....). You have all helped to make Kailer's 3rd birthday extra special. We love you all!
